Celestine House

We found Celestine House the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Situated in a nice quiet location with great views and close enough to the many attractions of Daylesford and Castlemaine. The accommodation is very comfortable, tastefully decorated and the rooms are up with the best that we have stayed in. Chef Chris provides great and I mean GREAT meals. This B&B is a credit to it’s owners !!!!! Highly recommended.

If you want a fantastic place to stay this is it. A qualified chef who cooks the BEST food, a family atmosphere to feel at home, beautiful rooms – with fires, spas and so close to Daylesford and Castlemaine. This is definately my favorite place to stay in Victoria.

We have stayed in B&Bs from the US to the UK to Australia – and it simply does not get any better than this. Celestine House is neat as a pin, fully equipped, and takes the attitude that ‘nothing is too much trouble’ to make a stay a real pleasure. Add to that absolutely wonderful cooking and you have what is literally the best B&B that we have found.

Celestine House has the mixture just right. This place is a haven to get away, relax, take in the stunning views and enjoy the hospitality of Chris and Teresa. Just sitting and soaking in the countryside with a glass of red is enough! The rest is a bonus! Walks, stunning night sky, country air, and a sense that all is well with the world!

We first stayed at Celestine House about 12 years ago, and have been coming back every year ever since. We now count Chris and Teresa as friends. Their warmth and hospitality and Chris’s wonderful meals have made every stay special. My parents live in Castlemaine and Chris has gone out of his way to prepare special meals for them at Celestine House for birthdays and Christmas. We always stay at The Cottage, which is beautifully appointed, homely and now our home-away-from home.

Celestine House has been a favourite place for my wife and I to stay, which we do frequently, as our daughter and family live in the area. My daughter had her wedding private family party there. We cannot praise Chris and his wife too greatly. His energy in gradually building up the accommodation to its present level, mainly by his own work, is only equalled by his thoughtfulness to his guests. As Betty became unable to climb stairs and get into spa baths, he designed and built a ground level room with an extra large shower area. Equally amazing is the quality of his cooking derived from experience as a chef on cruise liners. The meals are a constant delight and the breakfasts are a challenge to weight watchers. The bed and breakfast is situated on a hill top above Guildford, easily accessible and very quiet. Where Chris gets his energy from we wonder as he, in addition, produces bottled jams and chutneys in wide variety. He is knowledgeable about the local wineries and features the products of the region. We would unhesitatingly recommend Celestine House as one of the best places to stay in the Castlemaine/Maldon/Newstead/Daylesford area
